Premier League trio in for Allen

Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen has emerged as a January target for a number of Premier League clubs.

Stoke City, Sunderland and Leicester City are all eyeing a move for the Wales international who has made just three league appearances so far this season – all of which have come a substitute.

Former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers took Allen from Swansea City soon after he made the same switch though he started less than half of the Reds’ league games in each of their last two campaigns.

Prior to his move to Anfield, the twenty-five year old played one hundred and fifty times for Swansea while he has also had a brief loan spell with Wrexham.

He has twenty-two caps for his country while he was also part of Great Britain’s squad for the 2012 Ol…

I felt like Benjamin Button – Ibrahimovic misses ´fantastic´ Pogba and Man United team-mates

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has reflected fondly on his time at Manchester United, where his more youthful team-mates made him feel like Benjamin Button .

The former Sweden international arrived at Old Trafford as a 35-year-old free agent ahead of 2016-17 and scored 28 goals across all competitions as United lifted the Community Shield, the EFL Cup and the Europa League.

A serious knee injury meant he missed the conclusion of that campaign and the start of the next, before it was announced in March that he would depart for LA Galaxy in MLS.

Now 37, Ibrahimovic enjoyed a fine first season in Los Angeles, scoring 22 goals in just 27 league outings, but the typically self-assured striker concedes he does miss his ex-United colleagues.

And Ibrahimovic compared his…

Chelsea v Norwich City: Winning all that matters for Ivanovic

Branislav Ivanovic believes nothing but a run of victories will help Chelsea recover their performance levels from last season, as they welcome Norwich City to Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

The Premier League champions have taken just 12 points from their opening 12 matches a full 20 fewer than they had accrued at the same stage last season and head into Saturday s game one point and one place behind Norwich.

Jose Mourinho s side have lost their last three league matches, piling further pressure on the manager s shoulders, while rumours of significant dressing-room unrest has surfaced during recent weeks.

Ivanovic, however, has dispelled any notion of the players no longer wanting to perform for Mourinho.

The only way to get out of this situation is to wi…

One more year – Ben Foster sticking around at Wrexham following promotion

Ben Foster has signed a new one-year contract with Wrexham following their return to the English Football League.

The former England goalkeeper, 40, was tempted out of retirement in March to become a part of co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s ambitious plans to haul the club up the divisions.

He provided one of the National League’s moments of the season with a brilliant stoppage-time penalty save against fellow promotion hopefuls Notts County in April, preserving a 3-2 lead and sending Wrexham top of the table.

He s thought about it…

Milan goalkeeper Maignan out for 10 weeks after wrist surgery

Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan will be out for 10 weeks following surgery on his left wrist.

The Serie A giants signed Maignan from Lille in May for a reported €15million fee to replace Gianluigi Donnarumma, who departed for Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer.

The France international has started the season in fine form, starting every game as Stefano Pioli s side collected 19 points to match their best start in their opening seven Serie A games.

However, the 26-year-old suffered a wrist injury against Liverpool on September 15, with the problem worsening 13 days later in a clash with Atletico Madrid s Luis Suarez.

Milan announced on Wednesday that Maignan had undergone surgery, adding that he will rest for six weeks before beginning the rehabi…

Serie A giants keeping tabs on Espanyol defender; Ian Wright wants SWP to leave Eastlands

Serie A giants keeping tabs on Espanyol defender

Juventus, Inter and Napoli have shown interest in Espanyol promising defender Victor Ruiz, who is widely seen as one of the biggest prospects in Spanish football.

The 21-year-old defender has attracted a lot of attention with his performances this season and the best thing is that he will be available for as little as €8 million, which is the amount set in his release clause.

Inter have already made an inquiry with Espanyol and were told the clause actually exists but that there will be no discounts.

Juventus have yet to make a move for the player who can also play at left-back, with his versatility one of the main reasons why the Bianconeri are also in the race.

Taking into the account that Ruiz…

Roque returns to Rovers

Former Blackburn striker Roque Santa Cruz will return to the Ewood Park club on loan for the remainder of the Premier League season.

The Paraguayan striker joins from Manchester City and will bolster Steve Kean s squad as the Rovers currently 10th on the table aim for a top-half finish.

He joined City from Blackburn for a fee of 17.5 million pounds in 2009 but scored just four goals in 24 appearances at the City of Manchester Stadium.

But despite his poor run at City, Santa Cruz netted 29 goals in 70 matches for Blackburn and Kean believes the signing is a great coup for the club.

Roque had a fantastic time when he was first here and he showed his quality, Kean said.

Hopefully he ll do that again until the end of the season. It s massive from h…

Mauro Icardi has suggested he could leave Inter at the end of the season if the right offer comes in for his services.

The prolific attacker has been linked with clubs such as Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal in recent weeks, but had been adamant that he is happy to stay at San Siro.

However, the 23-year-old has now hinted a transfer could be an option after all.

Simeone praises ´best´ Atletico after Bayern triumph

Diego Simeone felt he watched close to the best version of his Atletico Madrid side after they claimed a 1-0 advantage against Bayern Munich in the Champions League semi-final first leg.

Atletico tore into their Bundesliga opponents from kick-off amid a cacophony of noise at the Vicente Calderon that ramped up a few more notches when Saul Niguez netted a sensational 11th-minute solo goal.

Simeone s men were at ease showing their famously dogged defensive qualities after the break, although Antoine Griezmann and Fernando Torres sprung forward on the break for the latter to hit the post 15 minutes from time.

Atletico reached the 2013-14 final, losing to rivals Real Madrid in the season they won La Liga.

A repeat could be on the cards as they lie level on p…
