Frazer Richardson and Danny Butterfield are on a list of eight players released by Southampton, the club confirmed on Tuesday.
Richardson signed for the club for an undisclosed fee in 2010, and was a key figure in the team s back-to-back promotions to the Premier League.
But he appeared on just five occasions in the Premier League last season, with England Under-21 international featuring prominently at right-back.
Butterfield, who also signed in 2010 from Crystal Palace, failed to make a single appearance for the club last season.
Dan Seaborne has also been released. The former Exeter defender was the victim of an assault outside a Southampton nightclub in 2011, before making a successful return to football.
Ryan Dickson, Ben Reeves, Sam Hoskins, Tommy Forecast and Alberto Seidi have also left the St Mary’s club.
