Bayern Munich are interested in signing Joao Palhinha from Fulham in the January transfer window, according to . The report has claimed that Bundesliga champions Bayern were keen on signing Palhinha in the summer of 2023 and remain keen on bringing the 28-year-old Portugal international defensive midfielder to the Allianz Arena.

Palhinha is one of the best players for Fulham and signed a new contract with Fulham in September. The 28-year-old has made five starts and one substitute appearance in the Premier League for the Cottagers so far this season, scoring one goal in the process.

Fulham are 12th in the Premier League table at the moment with 11 points from eight matches, six points behind Liverpool in fourth. Meanwhile, Bayern currently find themselves third in the B…

Jordan Pickford link to Chelsea a strange one

According to Italian publication, , Chelsea are set to launch a bid of around 50 million euros for Everton and England number one Jordan Pickford. As somebody who has watched the 26-year-old week-in and week out, I would say they have to consider selling the ‘keeper.

Not convincing at all

When Everton signed Jordan Pickford from Sunderland in 2017 for £30million he was considered a bright up-and-coming shot-stopper. Playing in a dire Black Cats team, he had plenty of practice at stopping shots too.

While shot-stopping is the biggest weapon in his armoury, other aspects of his game remain highly unconvincing. His ability to command his area is one of the big negatives against him. At 6.1ft, he is not short, but he is relatively short for a goalkeeper. This has led to…

Bournemouth 2 Cardiff City 0: Fraser and Wilson fire Cherries to opening win

Bournemouth held off a plucky Cardiff City to open the new Premier League campaign with a 2-0 home win thanks to goals from Ryan Fraser and Callum Wilson.

Fraser s close-range finish midway through the first half and Wilson s stoppage-time effort proved the difference as Eddie Howe s men ended a run of three opening weekend defeats.

Wilson, scorer of eight league goals last term, had an earlier chance to put the result beyond doubt before half-time, but his spot-kick was well saved by Neil Etheridge, the goalkeeper becoming the first player to save a penalty on his Premier League debut since Allan McGregor for Hull City in August 2013.

It was to prove the only real joy for last season s Championship runners-up, though, as a more competitive performance afte…

Hazard is medically perfect but we´re all worried about his injuries, admits Belgium boss Martinez

Eden Hazard is medically perfect but there is concern about the Belgium star s injury problems, according to national team boss Roberto Martinez.

The playmaker has endured a miserable time in Spain due to persistent physical issues since his move from Chelsea in 2019 for a reported €100million (£88.5m).

Hazard has only completed four matches for Los Blancos in all competitions, scoring just five goals in 51 appearances in total, as patience over his lack of availability runs thin among fans and local media.

The 30-year-old impressed in the first half of the Nations League semi-final against France last week, as Belgium took a 2-0 lead into half-time, but he was taken off in the 74th minute as Martinez s side went on to lose 3-2 to the world champions.

Gattuso on new Juve head coach Pirlo: A great playing career isn´t enough

Gennaro Gattuso warned Juventus head coach Andrea Pirlo that his illustrious playing career will count for little in his new job.

Pirlo, who has not had a coaching job and only took over as Juve s Under-23s boss last week, was handed the reins in Turin on Saturday in the wake of Maurizio Sarri s dismissal.

The former midfielder – who won four Serie A titles, one Coppa Italia and two Supercoppa Italiana during a four-year spell with Juve – has signed a two-year deal.

However, Gattuso, who played alongside Pirlo at Milan and for Italy, provided an honest assessment of the job s difficulties for his former team-mate.

Well he s screwed now… That s the job, Gattuso told Sky Italia following Napoli s defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League.

Emery questions decision to host Europa League final in Baku

Arsenal manager Unai Emery queried the decision to hold the Europa League final in Baku as the Gunners prepare to face Chelsea later this month.

Emery – a three-time winner of the competition with Sevilla – will take his side to the Azerbaijani capital in a bid to lift the trophy once more and ensure Arsenal earn qualification to next season s Champions League.

Speaking after Sunday s 3-1 win at Burnley to conclude the Premier League campaign, Emery suggested it was far from ideal to be playing the final almost 3,000 miles away from the homes of the two clubs involved.

I don t know exactly how the decision is made to play in one place or another place, Emery told a news conference after Arsenal finished fifth, a point adrift of the automatic Champions League…

Liverpool 2-0 Wolverhampton Wanderers: Talking points as Reds move closer to Premier League top four

Liverpool continued their relatively good run in recent Premier League matches on Wednesday evening, beating Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-0 at Anfield to book their third victory in the last four league matches. The goals were the work of Virgil van Dijk (73 ) and Mohamed Salah (77 ). Six minutes before the first goal, a strike by Darwin Nunez was ruled out by the VAR for an alleged foul by former Wolves attacker Diogo Jota in the buildup.

The game

With Joel Matip being particularly off form in recent weeks and Joe Gomez absent, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp made a somewhat forced choice to put the freshly returned Ibrahima Konate straight into his starting XI, and playing alongside Van Dijk, the France international repaid the manager s trust well. The centre-back pair were flanke…

Martinez relishing pressure of Manchester United history ahead of Real Betis trip

Lisandro Martinez is relishing the pressure of his position at Manchester United, with the Argentina international keen to meet the club s demands for success.

The centre-back was one of Erik ten Hag s flagship recruits ahead of the 2022-23 season, following the Dutchman from Ajax to Old Trafford.

Since then, Martinez has tasted silverware with both club and country, helping United to the EFL Cup and Argentina to World Cup glory.

That pressure to continue to deliver this season does not faze him however, with the defender delighted to be ensuring he meets expectations.

I feel [like I have been] at home since the first day here, he told the club s website.

When I [first] put my foot in Carrington, I remember it was an amazing feeling.

Toronto FC president Bill Manning said: We are excited for Bob to get to work. We are entering an extremely important off-season and know we have a team that needs a significant makeover.
