Salah on Juventus radar?

Juventus have apparently drawn up a short-list of possible targets for the upcoming transfer window, and it contains the name of Liverpool s Mohamed Salah, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who claim the Egyptian is the Old Lady s first choice when it comes to the attacking lines.

Juventus also aim to bring in Barcelona s Samuel Umtiti, Benfica duo of Joao Felix and Ruben Dias, Nicolo Zaniolo of AS Roma and Federico Chiesa of Fiorentina, the report states. They plan to fund all that, plus the acquisition of Salah, by selling Paulo Dybala and Douglas Costa; possibly Miralem Pjanić too if they receive an acceptable offer for the Bosnian midfielder.

Liverpool signed Salah from Roma in the summer of 2017, and in his first season at Anfield he became the top goalscorer in …

Tottenham captain Lloris backs ´professional´ Kane amid City speculation

Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris has backed Harry Kane s professionalism amid intense speculation linking the forward with a move to Sunday s Premier League opponents Manchester City.

City manager Josep Guardiola has declared his desire to sign Kane, who had requested Spurs allow him to leave late last season.

The situation has dragged on with no clarity ahead of Sunday s meeting between the two sides to open their Premier League campaigns.

Kane only returned to Tottenham training late this week after a delayed break following Euro 2020 following by a period in isolation.

Harry is a professional and he is here with a smile, Lloris told The Guardian.  There is a situation in the air, we can not hide that, but it belongs to him and the club.

Albion sign Hull defender Chester

West Brom have completed the signing of defender James Chester from Hull City for an undisclosed fee.

The Wales international passed a medical and agreed terms on a four-year deal with Albion on Tuesday to secure a return to the Premier League.

Former Manchester United centre-back Chester has reportedly commanded a fee of £8million and Albion head coach Tony Pulis believes the 26-year-old will prove to be a shrewd acquisition.

James did very well for Hull City. I ve had a good chat with him and he s the type of player I like, Pulis told the club s official website.

He s young, a strong character, a good defender, he has good feet and he has the Manchester United stamp all over him, just like [Stoke City s] Ryan Shawcross and Darren Fletcher. They re w…

Barcelona´s Paulinho shrugs off critics ahead of El Clasico

Paulinho insists he has never been worried about what the critics say, the previously under-fire midfielder having helped Barcelona to move 11 points clear of Real Madrid in the Liga table going into Saturday s Clasico.

The Brazil international was the first signing made by Barca following the departure of his compatriot Neymar in a world-record €222 million move to Paris Saint-Germain, with many Blaugrana fans underwhelmed at his arrival.

Paulinho was then widely mocked after stumbling over tricks in his presentation following the completion of a surprise €40million switch from Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao.

But after hitting six league goals to be the most prolific midfielder in LaLiga this season, striking a brace in a 4-0 defeat of Deportivo La Coruna last …

Bale has almost matched Ronaldo´s Madrid achievements – agent

Gareth Bale has almost matched Cristiano Ronaldo s achievements at Real Madrid and is now targeting the Ballon d Or, according to his agent Jonathan Barnett.

Bale moved to the Santiago Bernabeu in September 2013 and enjoyed a fine first season, scoring in the final of the Copa del Rey and UEFA Champions League as Madrid claimed a double under Carlo Ancelotti.

Ronaldo played alongside Bale in both those games to add to a trophy haul that also includes La Liga in 2012 and another Copa del Rey in 2011.

His critics claim that is a poor return for six years in Madrid and Barnett was quick to suggest Bale has made a near-equal impact in a shorter space of time.

Speaking at Soccerex, he said: He s not there to compete with Ronaldo but in terms of what he s …

Atletico Madrid and the Weight of Shirt No. 10

The Number 10.

Seemingly a mere numerical classification of a player’s positions on the pitch, the number 10 in football is, in fact, a symbolic representation of leader.

At the beginning of football time and the introduction of kit numeric, numbering used to be relatively basic and straightforward. With 11 players on the pitch, each had their own number starting from No.1 for goalkeepers, numbers 2 to 5 for the defensive line and so on.

It did not take long for two players to stand out, however, with No.9 and No.10 being perceived as the most important figures in a team.

Mythical Number

The classic 9 sits at the very front of the pitch and is tasked with scoring goals but it’s actually the No.10 that’s always carried the biggest weight – with people e…

James must adapt to new-look Everton, claims Benitez

Rafael Benitez says James Rodriguez is working to adapt to Everton s new style of play despite a move away from Goodison Park failing to materialise.

James arrived as a marquee signing on a free transfer from Real Madrid in September 2020, with Carlo Ancelotti keen to reunite with the playmaker.

However, James was absent for much of Everton s run-in as the Toffees missed out on Europe, ultimately ending the season in 10th place.

With Ancelotti gone and Everton turning to Benitez – who did not seem to trust James during his short stint as Madrid boss – speculation mounted that he would leave Everton.

A part-exchange deal with Porto for James compatriot Luis Diaz was worked on but did not come to fruition, though as late as this week Everton were still…
