Milan land Dest from Barcalona as second deadline day addition

Milan have confirmed the capture of Barcelona defender Sergino Dest on a season-long loan deal, with a reported €20million option to make it a permanent transfer for the Serie A champions.

United States international Dest makes the move from Camp Nou to San Siro after two seasons with the Blaugrana, where he was a member of their 2021 Copa del Rey triumph under Ronald Koeman.

But opportunities have proved more limited since Xavi succeeded the Dutchman at the helm and a succession of hamstring issues seriously hampered the 21-year-old s progress last term.

Now, he will move to Serie A from LaLiga as he looks to pick up crucial minutes ahead of the USMNT s campaign at the Qatar 2022 World Cup, with the versatile back looking to ensure he is on the plane to the to…

Real Madrid goalkeeper Courtois expects response from ´very strong´ Chelsea

Thibaut Courtois expects his former club Chelsea to respond strongly when they meet Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals, despite their heavy defeat on Saturday.

The Blues were shockingly thrashed 4-1 at home by Brentford in the Premier League, while Madrid claimed a 2-1 win away at Celta Vigo in LaLiga.

Courtois made 154 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea before moving to the Santiago Bernabeu in 2018.

Following Madrid s win over Celta, Courtois told reporters:  Today, winning is important. Chelsea lost at home and they will be very strong for Wednesday. We lack intensity sometimes and Chelsea are good at [exploiting] that.

Though Los Blancos were victorious, they enjoyed some fortune after being awarded three penalties by refer…

Bojan Krkic nearing MLS move

Bojan Krkic continues his odyssey and it looks like he will go to North America. According to Gianluca Di Marzio, former Barcelona prodigy is close to joining Montreal Impact. The Stoke City forward did not do great for the English club and it seems that he will try to find a new beginning outside of Europe.

Krkic joined Stoke back in 2014 after his time on loan at Ajax had come to an end. He did not perform as many have hoped, as he went out on two unsuccessful loans, to Alaves and Mainz 05, but now MLS is waiting for him. Krkic will soon turn 29 and he is currently in Bologna to hold talks with the Saputo Group. They are the owners of both Bologna and Montreal Impact, one of the three Canadian MLS franchises.

Bojan still has a year left on his contract with Stoke, but…

Arteta: I want more from Arsenal, it wasn´t good enough

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta conceded the Gunners were not good enough as they suffered stoppage-time heartbreak against Everton in the Premier League.

Arteta s Arsenal suffered their third defeat in four Premier League matches after Demarai Gray s stunning individual effort saw the hosts snatch a dramatic 92nd-minute victory.

Martin Odegaard had given the visitors a half-time lead with his neat volley from Kieran Tierney s cross at Goodison Park.

Arsenal were made to rue their failure to convert their winning position, as Richarlison equalised before Gray completed the turnaround in the second minute of stoppage time.

Arteta felt his players were punished for their lack of game management after succumbing to three consecutive league defeats to Everton fo…

Crystal Palace sign former Chelsea captain Cahill

Crystal Palace have signed Gary Cahill on a two-year contract to bolster their squad ahead of the new Premier League season.

The former Chelsea captain left Stamford Bridge last season having fallen out of favour with then-boss Maurizio Sarri.

It marked a low-key and ill-fitting end to seven-and-a-half decorated years at Stamford Bridge, where Cahill lifted every major honour in English football.

He also played the full 120 minutes before the Blues beat Bayern Munich in the 2012 Champions League final on penalties and won the Europa League for a second time last season.

Capped 61 times by England, Cahill was a regular for his country during the tenure of Eagles manager Roy Hodgson.

“I m hungry to prolong my career as long as I possibly can, the…

Bierhoff must go! Berthold calls for Germany changes

Former Germany international Thomas Berthold has called for national team manager Oliver Bierhoff to be replaced.

Germany suffered a humiliating group-stage exit at this year s World Cup, becoming the third defending champions in a row to suffer such a fate after Italy in 2010 and Spain in 2014.

Writing in his regular column for German publication Kicker, Berthold said: The damage to our image is huge, and this is Oliver Bierhoff s main responsibility.

The now overdone commercialisation and the alienation of the national team from fans and media is due to him.

The manager must be gone.

There needs to be a big cut in the national team, regardless of private ties or old merits. Back to professionals who do not view themselves too seriously. No …

Arsenal 2-0 Leicester: Key Talking Points As Mikel Arteta’s Men Breeze Past The Foxes In North London

Watching the likes of Manchester United, West Ham and Wolves all pick up maximum points, Arsenal managed to follow suit as they breezed their way to what was a routine 2-0 victory against Leicester on Sunday afternoon.

Asked hardly any questions at the Emirates, the Gunners also skyrocketed their way back into the Champions League spots thanks to goals from Thomas Partey and Alexandre Lacazette on either side of the break.

Extending on what has become a real Premier League purple patch, Mikel Arteta s side also piled more pressure onto a Leicester squad who find themselves enduring a public top-flight struggle this season.

In a showdown that was largely one-way traffic in north London, we have taken a look at the main talking points.

Manchester City v Liverpool: Excellence, pettiness, the social-media bubble and a very modern rivalr

Manchester City and Liverpool spent months staring each other down, waiting for one of them to blink in last season s Premier League title race.

As the absurd relentlessness unfolded week after week, neither budged and City s 98 points edged out 97 from the runners-up.

No one blinked. The question heading into Sunday s Community Shield encounter at Wembley is has this made them sick of the sight of one another?

I went to university in Liverpool years ago and I remember Liverpool and Everton fans would ask are you City or United? , Dan Burke, content editor for OneFootball and a contributor to the Blue Moon Podcast, recalled.

I d say City and they were like, oh, we don t mind City . I think definitely Liverpool don t like City anymore.

Both set…

´Now they will be favourites´ – Kimmich questions Leipzig´s ability under pressure

Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich suspects RB Leipzig could find the rest of the Bundesliga campaign tougher than they did before because they will have to contend with the pressure of being favourites.

Despite being in Germany s top flight for the first time in their history after only being founded in 2009, Leipzig have been a revelation this season and went into the Bundesliga s mid-season break in second, just three points behind pacesetters Bayern.

Timo Werner, Emil Forsberg, Naby Keita and Willi Orban have been particularly impressive so far, with Ralph Hasenhuttl s side currently looking on course for a Champions League spot.

But Kimmich, who played for Leipzig from 2013 until 2015, thinks that they may now find things a little tougher as they go int…
